The motorcycle oil filter

The oil filter ensures order in your engine, renew it regularly.
As the name suggests, the so-called oil filter filters the engine oil.
Although it is usually only the size of a tin can, it plays an important role in your motorcycle or scooter. It filters dust, dirt and small metal particles out of the oil that would otherwise build up in the engine and damage it in the long run.

These impurities remain trapped in the motorcycle oil filter, preventing them from entering the engine oil circuit.
Of course, the capacity of the oil filter is also limited. If there is already too much dirt in the motorcycle oil filter, hardly any particles can be absorbed and they get back into the engine with the engine oil.
There they can lead to deposits and damage in the long term. It is therefore very important to replace the oil filter regularly. In which intervals you should change it, you can read in the service booklet of your motorcycle, as a rule, filter changes are prescribed every 10,000km or 6000km.

It is also recommended to change the oil and oil filter before wintering, otherwise the dirt in the oil will be deposited over the winter.

However, it makes sense to have the oil filter replaced at every oil change. It is comparatively very inexpensive and you are thus on the safe side.
